The Corvette
In the story, Ben Hosnair is a neurotically proud owner of a new '66 Cadillac  , belittling almost anyone who he feels has a lesser car, including the hero, EJ Fidd, who first arrives at the Dark Vue Apartments with an old Plymouth. But later, EJ replaces that Plymouth with a new and highly modified '66 427 Corvette that, by comparison, would make Ben's Cadillac look and perform like a worn out garbage truck.
