The Creator

Robert F. Rice was involved with the US space program for many years, developing advanced communications techniques and technology. His work has been widely read and the innovations are now used throughout the world, recently becoming part of the international standards for space communications. As cofounder of Grafsoft Corporation, Mr. Rice also spent years developing techniques and software for the organization and presentation of information. He was also cofounder of Data Tree Corporation, which provided service and new technology to the Title Industry. Data Tree became part of First American Financial Corporation in 1998. More recently, Mr. Rice was involved with a Silicon Valley startup company that had developed breakthrough video-compression technology for commercial applications.

What the heck does this have to do with writing and promoting a comedy? The answer is that Mr. Rice was also class clown back in high school. Queenie and Herc, as a story and as a multi-faceted entertainment project, represents a combination of that innate propensity for humor with the experience of a technical and business career that required constant innovation and extensive writing and presentation of complex material. Those who are familiar with Mr. Rice's earlier career will not be surprised to find the same unconventional, non-establishment creativity still at work.

WORDS FROM THE PROJECT CREATOR

Young girl, 'Golly. I'm sure glad this is PG-13 so I can read it too.'Enjoy

While one can’t please everyone, I am hoping that a great many of you, of all ages and backgrounds, will be pleasantly rewarded with several hours of laughs in reading, seeing, and hearing Queenie and Herc’s first presentation as a new form of on-line novel. The novel reaches you in this way first as the consequence of a life-changing inspiration and then following the philosophy noted below. The common sense interface should provide you with viewing that will seem both new and familiar at the same time. As an entertainment approach, it has enabled the Queenie and Herc story to potentially reach the largest audience possible--anyone connected to the internet—without first relinquishing creative control to the entertainment or publishing industries. It goes directly to the people it was aimed at entertaining, you. No middle men. At the same time, with the public's support, it will allow us to continually refine and add to the story and its multi-media depiction in the future.

You will find that this completely original story is in fact quite "establishment" in the sense that it seeks not to shock you, but to entertain you with PG-13 level humor and romance. Not surprisingly, the fundamental storyline revolves around battles with familiar establishment attitudes that most of us must face at some time in our lives. Those attitudes are represented here by funny, but often despicable characters, who clearly deserve, and receive retribution in humorous, physically harmless, ways.

Scientist, 'So, you think ya got a hot idea, ehh?'Approach to Problem Solving

Looking back, it would now seem that my earlier technical/business career included many of the right learning experiences, success and failure, to guide the evolution of the Queenie and Herc project to its present form. Here are some of those lessons that were beneficial to me.
